I’m Matthew Johnson, an art director and graphic designer based in the Philadelphia area with a passion for building strong visual identities and thoughtful design systems. Over the past 15+ years, I’ve helped shape brands, campaigns, websites, and event experiences that connect with audiences across digital and print platforms.
My background includes leading creative work for fast-paced environments, from developing brand identities and style guides to designing broadcast graphics, tournament brands, marketing assets, and web layouts. I enjoy turning ideas into clear, compelling visuals and collaborating with cross-functional teams to make sure every detail supports the bigger picture.
At Nerd Street, I directed visual creative for tournaments, events, and marketing campaigns while helping build the Nerd Street and Localhost brands from the ground up. Before that, I designed websites and digital assets for
high-priority clients at hibu, where I also helped train designers and improve quality across the team.
I bring a mix of branding, typography, illustration, image editing, and project management skills, along with
hands-on experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and presentation tools like Google Slides and PowerPoint. I’m especially interested in creating work that is both visually strong and strategically useful.
If you’re looking for a designer who can lead creative direction, build cohesive brand systems, and keep projects moving in the right direction, I’d love to connect.
